What is America Supports You?

America Supports You is a Department of Defense program dedicated to connecting members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families with individuals, groups, and businesses from the community who want to support and encourage our military men and women.  America Supports You currently lists more than 300 non-profit groups that are devoted to helping our service men and women.  These groups provide a multitude of services, including financial assistance, sending care packages and letters, and helping our wounded warriors.

Can I donate funds or items directly to ASY?

Because America Supports You is a Department of Defense program we cannot accept outside donations.  Instead, we encourage you to contact one of the many homefront groups to find out how you can contribute to their efforts.  These fantastic organizations are making a real difference.  They send care packages and letters to our service members, provide direct assistance for military families and support the wounded – just to name a few.  By visiting America Supports You's Homefront "How You Can Help" page (www.americasupportsyou.mil/americasupportsyou/help.html) page, you can find a complete list of homefront groups – broken down into categories based on the type of support they provide for our service men and women.

I am a military member or military dependent – how do I receive help or support?

America Supports You lists more than 300 homefront groups dedicated to supporting you and your family.  These organizations provide a wide range of support including financial assistance, academic scholarships, and support for the wounded.  By visiting our Homefront "How You Can Help" page (www.americasupportsyou.mil/americasupportsyou/help.html) you can find a complete list of America Supports You homefront groups – broken down into categories based on the type of support they provide.

How do I send letters, cards, or e-mails to a troop overseas?

There are many ways to send a note to the troops!  While America Supports You cannot give anyone the name or address of a troop stationed overseas due to privacy and security concerns, if you would like to connect with one of the many groups that do mail letters and cards, please click on the link below to see which homefront groups can help!

How do I donate an item or care package to the troops?

The link below will help connect you to one of the homefront groups that can help you, regardless of what you would like to donate.  There are homefront groups that provide everything from computers, to adaptive clothing for the injured, to scholarships for military children!  Whatever the item is that you would like to give, please follow the link below to connect with a homefront group that can include your gift to our military community. www.americasupportsyou.mil/AmericaSupportsYou/send_packages.html

How do I get my organization linked on the America Supports You site?

In order for a group to be linked on the America Supports You website, you must first request an application.  Please e-mail our Community Group Liaison at julia.burgess.ctr@osd.mil. The completed application will need to be returned along with a copy of the IRS form confirming the non-profit 501c3 status of your organization.  At this time, only organizations with 501c3 status are eligible to become a homefront group listed on the America Supports You website.

I am a business that would like to support our service men and women. How do I do that?

Where do I go for more information on a Freedom Walk?

In 2005, Pentagon personnel, wishing to create an event that would commemorate the attack on the Pentagon and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, created what has become a new national tradition, the America Supports You FREEDOM WALK.  To learn more, visit the FREEDOM WALK home page (www.americasupportsyou.mil/freedomwalk/) where you can register for the National FREEDOM WALK in Washington, DC, or learn how to host a FREEDOM WALK in your community.
